The Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP), a certification program sponsored by the Telecommunications Industry Association's (TIA), validates that an individual has the core knowledge and skills required by manufacturers, channel partners, and end-users to implement convergent technology solutions. CTP shortens the path to vendor-neutral certifications. For individuals, CTP certification is a gateway to sales and service careers in the convergence industry. For companies, CTP certification is a gateway to lower training costs and a convergence capable workforce.

The Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) exam contains the following three topical domains with associated objectives categories and objectives:

• Data Networking: covers networking architecture and standards, LAN/WAN infrastructure; TCP/IP protocols and networking; and network troubleshooting.
• Telephony Networking: covers telephony network architecture and standards, basic telephony concepts and processes, infrastructure concepts, safety procedures and troubleshooting, and telephony signaling including SS7/C7 etc.
• Convergence Technology: understand all standard bodies and related voice and data convergence standards; covers al major issues in the voice/data convergence such as QoS and related technologies; covers all Voice-over related network architecture, signaling and corresponding network components.

TIA offers two vendor-neutral convergence technologies credential programs: CTP and CCNT. Each certification program is designed to meet the needs of a different segment of the telecommunications industry.

Convergence Technologies Professional (CTP) certification was developed for convergence equipment manufacturers, their channel partners and their end customers.

Certified in Convergent Network Technologies (CCNT) certificate program was developed for telcos and other network service providers providing convergence services.
