If you have a switched network, network traffic monitoring tools are often restricted to receive to only its own packets. In this case, port mirroring, also known as port spanning or port monitoring function, is required in the switch for network administration to monitor traffic properly. The following is a list of some commonly used managed switches that support port monitoring, port spanning or port mirroring functions. Some references regarding how to configure the port spanning, port monitoring and port mirroring are also included. For specific instructions regarding how to configure your switches to perform port monitoring or port spanning or port mirroring, please read the user's manual of the particular switch or contact the vendor for such information.
