Triple play may refer to two different things depends on who are the service providers.
For traditional telecom service providers, Triple play is the fusion of the services of fixed telephony, mobile telephony and fixed-line internet services: the products started being linked, cross- and up-sold and serviced together. Triple play is based on the integrated and converged fixed and mobile networks.
For traditional cable TV providers, triple play refers to the provisioning of the two broadband services, high-speed Internet access and television, and one narrowband service, telephone, over a single broadband connection.
Triple play, for either type of service providers, is now a reality rather than marketing terms. Actually, the industry is talking about quadruple play, in which, wired telephony, mobile telephone, Internet and TV services will all be merged into one service package to customers by a single service provider.
