Green: Vendors are building energy saving into every device and service providers are taking energy consumption in their business into matrix.

Mobility: Most innovations are still in this category. WiMax will be deployed in a big way in the US and other parts of the world.

Broadband: Services providers are continuing their investment to push fiber into last mile

Multimedia services: triple play (wireline voice, mobile and data) are provided now and quardruple play (wireline voice, mobile voice, data and video) are pushed out by the industry.

A few interesting points:

-Some analysts worried about innovation of the industry since investment level is low.

-Cable companies wanted to join force with telecom companies in the standards making in the international forums, such as ITU-T.

-Big vendors such as Sun become leaders in providing Open Source software
