How to do earthing properly for multiple equipments in one room? As we all know that electronic equipment for networking and many other purposes such as computers, servers, routers, switches, storage etc. Should be earthed properly to protect them from un-expected power fluctuation. If there is only one equipment, it is simple and straight forward – simply connect the equipment with the common building earthng system. When many equipments are located at one room, there are basically three earthing options:

    1. Each equipment connects to the common building earth system separately. The following chart displays such connection:

This is a simple and good way to do earthing and it is recommended in most cases.

    2. All equipments connect to each other and one of the equipment connects to the common building earth system. The following chart displays such connection:

This is not a recommended way of doing earthing, because if all the equipments were earthed using one link, it has created a single point of failure.

    3. all equipments connect to each other and each of the equipment also connects to the common building earth system. The following chart displays such connection:

This is the most safe way of doing earthing, because if you connect all the equipment together and earthing them separately to the common building earth system, it provides all equipments with multiple earthing connections.
